National Winners: 2019 Concrete Institute of Australia, Award for Excellence in Technology & Inn

We’re proud to announce that our Atira Student Living project – 50 La Trobe Street – won the 2019 Concrete Institute of Australia, Award for Excellence in Technology and Innovation in Victoria as well as at a National level!

The award recognises significant contributions to the understanding or use of concrete as evidenced by research, technical publications, patent applications, new products or pieces of equipment, new techniques, design innovations, or educational activity. The award criteria focussed on materials and concrete technology, design and engineering, construction practices, architectural and environment considerations and sustainbility and resilience.

The Awards Night was held at the Hawthorn Arts Centre on 23rd July 2019 and was attended by a number of industry professionals. Followed by the National presentations on the 10th of September

The 783 bed project includes a 43 level tower, a 7 level building at the rear of the site and a ground floor cafe and public access laneway. By utilising Hickory Building Systems, the high-rise project had a reduced build-time (30% faster) and construction impact for neighbouring properties, created a safer public environment during construction and limited disruption by taking key activities offsite.

The project also included prefabricated floor slabs, facades and over 600 Sync bathroom pods from Hickory’s factory in Laverton North.
